Movie Review: Just Mercy (2019)

In many ways, it’s just a cookiecutter emotional drama based on a true story. We’ve all seen hundreds of movies like this. But with Michael B. Jordan’s and Jamie Foxx’s performance, it’s elevated above many of its peers.

Though I will say that Brie Larson doesn’t equal these two. There is a fantastic albeit small performance by Tim Blake Nelson as the man whose testimony put Johnny D (Foxx) behind bars. It’s tough not to love him in everything.

It may not have the best script or best director, but it is a pretty enjoyable movie on its own terms.
