Movie Review: Kid Galahad (1962)
Kid Galahad probably has one of the King’s best acting performances, some fun music, and a great supporting cast including Oscar-winner Gig Young and Charles Bronson.
Presley plays the character you’d expect. He’s a folksy young man who’s way more talented at one particular thing than he realizes. Here, it’s not auto racing or music, but boxing.
As a boxer, he’s somewhat convincing. I’ve certainly seen worse physical acting from the mid-century. But outside the ring, he is effectively charming, and displays some solid chemistry with the supporting cast.
It’s a slightly-above-average Presley film. It has the weaknesses you’d expect, but it has some really enjoyable aspects, as well.
