Movie Review: Meridian (1990)

Pretty much all that I knew about this movie was that Audrey from Twin Peaks (Sherilyn Fenn) fucks a werewolf. And that’s not really the case. I mean, she has sex with a beast of some kind (so does Charlie Spradling), but it’s not really a werewolf.

And it turns out this movie’s a lot weirder than even that would have had me believe. Fenn and her friend move to an Italian castle (I’m assuming the one Charles Band owned that was used for Castle Freak), and they invite a magician over after a show. They’re then drugged, and raped, leaving them confused in the morning.

It’s actually all downhill from here, believe it or not. The drug trip/rape scene is actually fascinating to watch. It just moves from normal to super weird without any warning, and it’s legitimately good filmmaking. Everything after that is a pretty by-the-numbers fantasy beauty and the beast story.
