Movie Review: Night of the Demons (2009)

--

Night of the Demons could have been pretty good. By no means is it terrible, but if you ask me, it’s not dealing with the best source material in the original 1988 film, so it certainly could have been an improvement. And there’s a pretty enjoyable cast, with Diora Baird replacing Linnea Quigley (though there is an enjoyable Linnea cameo, wearing the original costume from the film).

Monica Keena’s also here, and so is Shannon Elizabeth of American Pie fame. I liked all three of these women in the movie, even if the rest of the cast wasn’t great.

The problem here, though, isn’t the cast, but the filmmaking. It’s horrifically dated, and has some long shots that are reminiscent of some fad that was big on YouTube a few years ago. It’s just an ugly, unpleasant film to watch. The movie has an enjoyable (and quite sexy) first half, but the second half just devolves into boring gory chaos.

Rating: 3/10
