Movie Review: Private School (1983)

--

I suppose this isn’t nearly as bad as it might have been. It’s a dated sex comedy, sure, but it’s elevated by a fun soundtrack and an enjoyable cast that includes Phoebe Cates, Betsy Russell, Matthew Modine, and Sylvia Kristelin a fun role as a sex education teacher.

The movie’s probably at its weakest when it’s just trying to be a normal romantic comedy with Cates and Modine.

While they’re both individually just fine, their chemistry isn’t all that great, and the writing is far from great. Though at least this portion of the movie comes to a fairly satisfying conclusion.

As a movie, there’s little unifying its comedic set pieces, but a few of them are quite funny. So that’s good, I guess.
