Movie Review: Red Eye (2005)

Red Eye is a pretty good “minor” Wes Craven movie. It doesn’t do anything really spectacularly, but it’s a solid and suspenseful thriller overall that features a good villainous performance from Cillian Murphy.

Rachel McAdams is really quite good, too. And Brian Cox in a smaller role. All the acting is pretty solid. I like the score from Marco Beltrami, too.

So there’s a lot to like in this movie, even if there isn’t all that much to love. It feels very “of the time,” as it’s a pretty clear post-9/11 movie, and I don’t have much of a problem with that. Even if it dates the movie a bit, that makes it a little interesting.

But otherwise the movie isn’t that interesting. The plot didn’t really suck me in the way I hoped it would.

Rating: 6/10
