Movie Review: Retro Puppet Master (1999)
We’ve got a new worst in the series. David DeCoteau has directed my favorite movie in the franchise so far in Toulon’s Revenge, and he’s now directed my two least favorite.
This movie doesn’t look as shitty as the last one, but that’s one of the few notable improvements. I guess it also has a good amount of puppet stuff, too.
And yet huge stretches of the movie, it feels like the puppets don’t matter, which has been a problem that’s popped up every now and then since the first one. But we get distracted with this Egyptian sorcerer going around, and if it’s not Sutekh, I’m quite frankly not that interested.
It’s not without its moments of enjoyment, but it’s pretty dull overall.
