Movie Review: Shakma (1990)

--

If I had to use one word to describe the movie Shakma, it would be “dull,” which is really disappointing because a movie about a killer baboon sounds like it’d be a lot of fun.

Shakma is far longer than it should be, and it’s really repetitive, too, so it even feels longer than it is. So many scenes are shot in the same hallway. The production comes across as incredibly amateur, and the performances — even by veteran actor Roddy McDowall — are all terrible.

On top of that, the plot is convoluted. A killer baboon rampaging through a hospital is one thing. Hospital employees playing a big game of “find the princess” or whatever is quite another.
