Movie Review: Shivers (1975)

I quite enjoyed Shivers. It’s a good reminder of how effective horror can be if it’s low budget. It kind of carries an exploitation feel, even if the filmmaking by first time director David Cronenberg really shines through.

The movie succeeds more for its visuals and technical aspects than it does for its story, which I think is pretty consistent with other early Cronenberg films.

The acting is solid. The direction is very good. And while I wasn’t absorbed by the story, I was consistently and thorouhgly entertained.

Rating: 7/10
