Movie Review: Short Night of Glass Dolls (1971)
Short Night of Glass Dolls is a very, very different kind of movie, even amongst the giallo genre. It’s really weird, and it doesn’t so much revolve around a black gloved killer. Instead, it follows the pursuit of a disappeared young woman (Barbara Bach).
For much of the movie’s runtime, the story doesn’t have a lot of momentum. There’s a little bit of intrigue with this mysterious music club that has a lot more going on than meets the eye, but for the most part, it doesn’t fully come together until the end.
But my, what an ending.
From the orgy on, the film is absolutely fascinating. It has such an insane plot twist that you really have to see it to believe it. The movie’s willingness to go there really makes up for a lot of its flaws.
