Movie Review: Slaughterhouse (1987)

I usually don’t like horror comedies, and this isn’t too much of an exception. It’s definitely inspired by the big three in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Halloween, and Friday the 13th, but its spin on comedy makes it most resemble The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.

The killer here is basically just Leatherface without the cool costume. He’s fat, slow, disgusting, and pretty vicious.

And he’s just the pawn of someone who’s more mentally with it, sort of like Leatherface as well. In this case, he’s going after the people that want to buy his brother’s slaughterhouse.

I like the slaughterhouse kind of setting. It’s gross, disgusting, and naturally pretty creepy. But I didn’t find any of the comedy worked for me, and so little of the horror did either.
