Movie Review: Stagecoach (1966)

Apparently pointless remakes of masterpieces of film aren’t a new phenomenon. I’m not sure why you’d remake John Ford’s Stagecoach, but I suppose if you were going to, you could do a worse job.

It features an ensemble cast that consists of Ann-Margret, Slim Pickens, and Bing Crosby, the latter of whom looks awful. Ann-Margret, of course, looks amazing, but she’s not given too much to do.

The movie takes a while to get going, but when it needs to be exciting, it kind of works. The scene with the Ringo Kid jumping from horse to horse is pretty great, and features some fantastic stunts. But this is really the only scene that stood out to me. It’s not a great movie, and I really didn’t get a whole lot out of it.

Rating: 5/10
