Movie Review: Stonehearst Asylum (2014)

Wow. How is it possible to have a poorly acted movie when you’ve got film legends Sirs Ben Kingsley and Michael Caine?
The answer is two words: Jim Sturgess.
He’s just so bad, so boring, and he singlehandedly destroys a lot of good will the movie has built up. There is impressive period detail. Some good supporting performances. Decent atmosphere. A plot that’s at least a little interesting. And the incomparable beauty of Kate Beckinsale.
And yet, with Sturgess in really the lead role, it just doesn’t work. It’s a shame.
