Movie Review: Summer of 84 (2018)

As much as I was expecting this to be a throwback to the ’80s, it’s not really that stylistically. It definitely feels like a modern film. It just happens to be set in the ‘80s.

If you’ve seen Disturbia, you pretty much have seen this movie. It just has younger kids. The kid actors are all pretty good.

It has some effective moments, and it is fairly gripping. It’s somewhat predictable, but I appreciate the rather downbeat ending to it. It feels a little different. So much of this movie you feel as if you’ve seen before, but then it surprises you here and there.

Rating: 6/10
