Movie Review: Superman II (1980)

I find it to be far more uneven than the first movie, but it still works reasonably well. It’s nice to have villains that are a physical match for Superman, and this leads to some fun action and practical effects in the second half of the movie.

Even if at times it feels like it’s all a Marlboro ad

But the heart of this movie really is quite compelling. Superman sacrifices his power so that he can be with Lois Lane.

It doesn’t make that much sense, but it’s basically the Arwen-Aragorn thing, sort of. And I do absolutely love Margot Kidder in this role. And Reeve continues to be perfect.

Rating: 6/10
