Movie Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (1991)
This was a childhood favorite of mine, but I haven’t seen it in years. And now that I’ve finally seen the original all the way through, I felt like revisiting it. And it doesn’t hold up.
In a lot of ways, it’s a genuinely worse movie than the original. It’s a bit sillier and more childish, but that’s honestly what I want out of a Turtles movie. I want some dumb shit. I don’t want to take this stuff seriously, and there’s no better way to do that than having a Vanilla Ice cameo.
It’s also kind of funny to see these big dumb costumes messing around with computers and all that.
But it’s not a good movie. If you remember it as being awesome when you were a kid like I did, keep believing that and probably don’t go back to rewatch it. Because it will disappoint. Still, rest in peace David Warner, who turns in a memorable performance.
