Movie Review: The Curse of the Mummy’s Tomb (1964)
This movie’s a lot more dull than I’m accustomed to from these classic Hammer monster movies. The plot isn’t bad, as it concerns a group of archaeologists that excavates a pharaoh’s tomb, and then takes it to Britain to have a show run by an American promoter (Fred Clark).
There’s a bit of King Kong with the sleazy American guy going around, taking advantage of people, and of cultures. And I must say Fred Clark is the best part about the movie.
But that’s kind of a problem, too. This is a mummy movie, and the mummy scenes are are so uninspired and honestly boring.
It takes a long time for us to even get to the mummy, and it’s just not very exciting.
The production value is there. The movie looks good. It’s just got bad pacing and uninspired direction.
