Movie Review: The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923)

I’ve never read this novel, but I’m going to assume this isn’t a great adaptation, given the other adapted-from-literature Universal Monster movies. But it is entertaining. Lon Chaney really stands out for both his makeup and his acting.

He truly was a fantastic physical actor, and his acrobatics here are quite impressive. I was also really impressed with the art design. The movie convinces you of both the time period and location.
