Movie Review: The Pit and the Pendulum (1991)

For a direct to video Charles Band film, this movie looks great. Leave it to Stuart Gordon and Dennis Paoli to put together one of Band’s best movies, and especially credit to Gordon for one of his best looking films.

It’s solid, compelling gothic horror that’s smarter than you’d expect, and it features an all-star cast of character actors. Lance Henriksen, Jeffrey Combs, Mark Magolis, Oliver Reed…great stuff.

I enjoyed this movie a good deal. It’s fun, and a little disturbing.
