Movie Review: The Roommate (2011)

This movie has no business being as bland as it is. It’s a psychological thriller about the age-old creepy roommate. We’ve got beautiful women all over the place, with Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly in the lead roles.

So we’ve got a sleazy kind of plot, beautiful women…the perfect setup for a sleazy exploitation-y classic. And it’s just not that. I guess this is probably PG-13. It’s tame not just in its lack of any kind of titillation, but even in its violence, it just doesn’t go far enough. The only real scene I enjoyed was the one where Leighton Meester confronted her creepy professor (Billy Zane) to frame him for rape.

It’s just really quite bad. It has very little to offer, really.
