Movie Review: The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018)
This is a sequel that I don’t think anyone asked for, coming 10 years after the original film. It’s also a bit different stylistically, as it’s more a slasher movie than its predecessor, and has more of an ’80s aesthetic that extends to both the look and the soundtrack.
I wasn’t a big fan of the original, despite the performances. I found it very repetetive and not that entertaining. This movie has a much quicker pace to it, and while it’s not great, I did find it more entertaining.
There are a few standout sequences here, notably the one with the pool.
Sure, the story is nothing special, and Christina Hendricks is sort of wasted in her role. But it’s good enough for what it is.
