Movie Review: The Warriors (1979)

The Warriors may be a little strange, with its almost post-apocalyptic setting, but it’s pretty unique, and quite entertaining. The story centers around the assassination of a gang leader who intended to unite all the gangs of New York against the cops, and the pinning of the assassination on a relatively lowly gang, the Warriors.

The performances are pretty good, and the story keeps things moving. It’s incredibly entertaining and though there isn’t much action, the action we do get is pretty good.

There aren’t too many movies like this — movies that represent youth crime as not an evil, but a certainty, something that can easily attract someone, and potentially even benefit them. The movie has a very unique perspective, and that’s part of what makes this movie feel so fresh.
