Movie Review: The World, the Flesh, and the Devil (1959)

A post-apocalyptic movie with a cast of only three, this was pretty good. I loved the scenes of Harry Belafonte’s Ralph wandering around an empty New York. The scenes are really well done. It’s no 28 Days Later, but it’s as good as you’d hope for.

The movie gets a little less interesting as it goes along. A lot of the human drama is pretty forced, though the racial stuff is interesting.

The movie’s good, but definitely a step short of great. Belafonte is a charming lead, but the supporting performances by Inger Stevens and Mel Ferrer aren’t quite as good.

Rating: 7/10
