Movie Review: Young Lady Chatterley (1977)

--

This is basically an unofficial sequel to the D.H. Lawrence novel, which is kind of interesting. They probably picked the right classic novel to turn into softcore porn, and they did a decent job with it.

Harlee McBride plays Cynthia Chatterley, niece of the literary Lady Chatterley, who’s of course treated as a real character. She discovers her aunt’s affair with the gardener and decides to do the same damn thing, which leads to numerous other sexual encounters.

McBride does a pretty good job. It’s really quite an innocent performance. The actions themselves are risque, but the performance treats them quite normal. The movie is pretty damn hot, and even is good for a few laughs.

But the movie does take a turn in its last half hour, where it becomes quite nonsensical. The costumes and all that stuff, it’s just pretty bad. But everything before that is decent.

Rating: 4/10
