Night Gallery episode review — 3.13 — Whisper
Original air date: May 13, 1973
Director: Jeannot Szwarc
Writer: David Rayfiel
Rating: 7/10
This isn’t a perfect episode, but it’s certainly one of the highlights of the season so far, featuring a great cast of Sally Field and Dean Stockwell.
Stockwell and Field play a married couple, with Irene (Field) acting strangely, taking on attributes of dead people.
She spends her days at a cemetery while her husband, Charlie (Stockwell) tries to support her and figure out how to make her better.
It’s a pretty unique and interesting story, and both the direction and acting are quite good. I otherwise don’t have too much to say about it. It’s just a solid episode with a very good ending, and it’s on the periphery of my top 10 for the entire series.
