Night Gallery episode review — 3.2 — The Girl with the Hungry Eyes

Original air date: October 1, 1972
Director: John Badham
Writer: Robert Malcolm Young

Rating: 6/10

What’s with the intro music? Was it in the last episode, too? Has the theme song just changed and gotten considerably worse and I didn’t notice it until now?

A mysterious young model (Joanna Pettet) approaches commercial photographer David Faulkner (James Farentino). She doesn’t leave her name, but the pictures she takes have a strange power.

Pettet is really good, not just good to look at, but she genuinely gives a good performance.

The girl (she’s unnamed in the episode) becomes the face of Munsch beer, after being spotted by Munsch (John Astin).

The story is a bit silly, but also kind of interesting. Men become obsessed with her, focusing on her eyes that seem to contain some kind of hypnotic maliciousness. Anyways, it makes for a good climax.

It’s not a great episode, but it is eminently watchable.
