Science Fiction Theatre episode review — 1.4 — Y.O.R.D.

Original air date: April 30, 1955
Director: Leon Benson
Writers: Leon Benson and George Van Marter (story by Ivan Tors and George Van Marter)

Rating: 5/10

Like all the other episodes, this one is talky as hell, but it’s a bit more interestnig than at least two of them.

There’s a lot going on here initially. There’s a polar expedition of some sort, but a couple of scientists specializing in mind reading are recruited.

There’s a fun little scene where people are playing cards, but it’s deemed pointless since they know what each other has.

They then get a broadcast of some sort, reading simply “YORD.” They try to figure out what it means, and where it comes from, and that’s kind of just the rest of the episode. There isn’t much personality or creativity from here on out. It’s just people talking.
