Scream episode review — 3.6 — Endgame

Original air date: July 10, 2019
Directors: Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer
Writer: Brett Matthews

Rating: 5/10

Probably the least compelling mystery of these three seasons comes to an end…a rather unsatisfying end. So Jay was Ghostface, but he’s also killed by Ghostface, because there’s another one.

As much as I don’t think this episode is all that great, the reveal here is done really well. Liv gets a text from Deion saying that Jay is dead, but there’s another Ghostface, and she lies about what she received to Beth, and then knocks her out.

When Deion shows up, he’s not sure which of the two is the other killer, though we believe it to be Liv. But it turns out it’s Beth, who Liv had knocked out because she knew details about Amir’s death that she shouldn’t have known.

It’s really well done and easily the best part of the episode. The rest isn’t too great. The twist with Deion where he isn’t actually Deion, but he’s Deion’s brother Marcus, and it was actually Deion that’s dead, is stupid. It’s stupid how it works as Jay’s motivation, sure, but it’s just kind of dumb regardless.

This really wasn’t a great season, so this is probably an appropriately mediocre finale.
