Second Viewing: Forbidden World (1982)

This movie is way better than I remembered. Sure, it’s an Alien ripoff on the surface. And there are probably better Alien ripoffs out there. But I doubt any have John Carl Buechler at the peak of his powers.
The effects in this movie are truly fantastic, whether it’s the fully-grown metamorph, or the gelatinous flesh zombies of the creature’s victims.
It’s really fun, and though the story is nothing new, there are a few pretty unexpected things that happen with the effects. It’s true body horror.
