Second Viewing: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is some dumb shit. It’s kind of terrible, in a way. But it’s a lot of fun, despite its technical failings.

It’s actually a fairly well directed film. Like with the first Jurassic World film, and really every Jurassic Park sequel, the issues are almost all in the writing.

The movie has an odd structure. It’s basically two movies. The first one takes Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), and others to the island, with the dinosaurs all dying due to a volcano eruption. It’s really rushed and awkward, but I do enjoy the baryonyx sequence.

The second film is just a dumb horror movie, and I find it to be much more enjoyable, to be honest. There’s really nothing great about it, but it’s some good dumb fun.
