Second Viewing: The Road Warrior (1981)
The Road Warrior seems almost primitive with certain action movies we’ve got since. It’s a movie that tries to trim all the flat and have the whole plot be a chase, not unlike (but very unlike, if you catch my drift) Mad Max: Fury Road.
It admittedly doesn’t help that I watched this movie right after seeing John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum for the first time. Just about any action movie’s going to look obsolete by comparison.
But this is a good movie.
It’s really well shot and has some fantastic vehicle stunts. I really like these wasteland kind of movies because they’re shot a bit like westerns, and almost have this spaghetti western kind of feel to them that I really appreciate.
