Slasher: The Executioner episode review — 1.6 — The One Who Sows His Own Flesh

Original air date: April 1, 2016
Director: Craig David Wallace
Writer: Aaron Martin

Rating: 5/10

Apparently Sarah was right to hate Chief Vaughn, because he’s some kind of monster who kidnapped and raped a teenage girl, Ariel, and now keeps her hostage in a secret room in his basement.

She tries to escape with their son, and though they get upstairs and are spotted by Vaughn’s wife, it doesn’t quite work.

I’m not wild about this plot twist. It’s so fucking weird, and right away it just makes me think that he ironically can’t be the killer, but he’s definitely going to be killed.

He does actually kill one person, though, after Cam and Sarah went to talk to her about Ariel.

Sarah has an argument with her husband, who’s certainly been acting weird now that he’s the beneficiary of Alison’s death, and she gets picked up by Chief Vaughn.

And yeah, he tries to kill her, though he clearly isn’t the Executioner. And she gets away, of course, and Chief Vaughn returns home to kill himself, Ariel, and their son.

Vaughn escapes and hides out at a cabin, and he’s killed, and for the first time, I’m on the Executioner’s side here.

This episode was kind of just too much. It took a really dark turn with the Sheriff character and basically I wasn’t interested in seeing any of it. I also have no idea why Sarah was suddenly so interested in Ariel’s disappearance, but it’s the catalyst for most of the episode, so there you go.
