Star Trek episode review — 1.5 — The Enemy Within

Original air date: October 6, 1966
Director: Leo Penn
Writer: Richard Matheson

Rating: 9/10

Somehow, a duplicate of Captain Kirk is created, and seizes control of the ship, hoping to capture the real Kirk.

The evil Kirk takes it well.

Good Kirk works alongside Spock to find the evil Kirk. When evil Kirk is about to kill real Kirk, Spock steps in, using his Vulcan neck pinch thing.

It’s a suspenseful, thrilling episode, and it features some solid acting by Shatner, who obviously doesn’t enjoy the best reputation as an actor, but has been solid in the show so far.

Despite that, though, my favourite thing in the episode is easily the alien.

It’s just a dog that they put a little horn on, and it’s just the most adorable thing.
