Star Trek: The Next Generation episode review — 3.14 — A Matter of Perspective

Original air date: February 12, 1990
Director: Cliff Bole
Writer: Ed Zuckerman

Rating: 9/10

I kind of loved this episode. It’s definitely something different. Riker’s arrested for murder, and the rest of the episode is a court case showing holographic recreations of what the various players remember.

It’s an interesting plot. We of course know Riker didn’t do it, but Troi isn’t able to detect any lies in the other people’s testimonies. Which I don’t think we really got an answer for at the end, when we learn the real truth.

But whatever, the episode’s a lot of fun. And I like how Picard is being tested by the prosecutor, but honestly he’s as impartial as can be.
