The Magicians episode review — 4.13 — No Better to Be Safe Than Sorry

Original air date: April 17, 2019
Director: Chris Fisher
Writers: Sera Gamble and John McNamara

Rating: 7/10

I just learned recently that Jason Ralph was only in the first four seasons, so not really knowing how the series proceeded, I was curious if his character truly got an end, or if it was more an actor demanding more money and being written off the show. But it becomes clear why the series had recently revisited the Quentin-Alice relationship.

Quentin’s death is incredibly satisfying, and he truly gets a chance to be a hero, despite all that he learned about his destiny throughout the series.

He sacrifices himself to stop the Monster and Everett, who was trying to make himself into a god. And as a result, Julia has her magic back, and things seem to be restored on Earth, even if things aren’t that great on Fillory.

Based on my experiences with the show, I’m sure it will create a plot out of thin air for the fifth season and it’ll take a long time to get adjusted to it, but hopefully it will at least conclude as well as season 4’s did.
