The Sopranos episode review — 6.19 — The Second Coming

Original air date: May 20, 2007
Director: Tim Van Patten
Writer: Terence Winter

Rating: 10/10

Just when I think I’m done with AJ as a character, he tries to commit suicide and suddenly becomes much more interesting.

He’s saved by his father, who’s initially very upset with him, but it becomes clear later on that he’s the far more sympathetic one between his two parents, seeing as how he understands depression.

Carmela is done with this kind of thing, as she’s upset that she has to hear of it from both her husband and her son.

Meadow is also sexually harassed by someone Tony works with, and Tony reacts fairly calmly when she tells him, but then ends up curbstomping him rather violently.

This is a really strong episode. It’s mostly family stuff, but there’s still some business, and the two are intertwind in the Meadow plot. It’s just great.
