The Twilight Zone (2020) episode review — 2.7 — A Human Face

Original air date: June 25, 2020
Director: Christina Choe
Writer: Alex Rubens

Rating: 4/10

A grieving father and son discover an alien in the basement of their new house.

When they confront it, it contorts itself to take on the identity of their dead daughter.

The acting here is pretty good, as most of the episode (it’s a short episode) is Jenna Elfman and Christopher Meloni arguing with each other over how they should treat this alien, who eventually explains a bit about what it’s doing there.

I don’t really care much for how it’s shot. There are a lot of tight closeups, consistent with the rest of the series. Good acting mostly makes these work, so it’s more distracting in other episodes.

But this is still below average because the story just isn’t that good. It’s hard to believe Jenna Elfman’s character, even with a solid performance.
