Third Viewing: Boggy Creek II: And the Legend Continues (1985)

It’s as strangely paced as the original, but without the documentary style, it stands out as even more strange.

The film follows a group of students and their University of Arkansas professor (played byt he writer-producer-director himself, Charles B. Pierce) as they investigate possible sightings of the Fouke Monster.

Most of the action, so to speak, is presented in flashbacks, depicting sightings that are “highly rated” in terms of believability. It’s pretty lazy, and again, this would make a bit more sense if it were presented as a documentary, as the first movie.

Where the movie is surprisingly effective is the monster costume itself. You don’t really see much in the first movie, and you definitely see more of the monster (and its kid) than you should in this movie, but the costumes are surprisingly good.

It’s not a great movie, and it has plenty of unintentionally funny moments, but it’s not a complete disaster either.

Rating: 3/10
