This Time with Alan Partridge Episode 5 Review

Original air date: March 25, 2019
Directors: Neil Gibbons and Rob Gibbons
Writers: Steve Coogan, Neil Gibbons, and Rob Gibbons

Rating: 8/10

I’d say this is the worst episode of the series, but that’s not to say it’s bad. It’s still very, very funny, with some classic Partridge moments. This is the “Me Too” episode, and I must say that this is a topic that should be perfect for the Alan Patridge character. But somehow, it slightly misses its mark, in relation to the rest of the show.

Alan does try and talk over a woman who’s talking about the movement, and then when he’s called out for being an asshole, claims to have been sexually harassed, making everyone uncomfortable.

The highlight of this episode is probably when Alan has Simon look into tweets abotu mother-in-law jokes that they’re trying to call out as being in bad taste, but Simon keeps laughing at them.

Alan also has a bad allergic reaction to some shellfish he eats during the episode that probably isn’t as funny as it should be.

It’s a fine episode overall, but it is my least favorite.
