A few weeks ago, my assistant Meagan found her dream job and had to stop assisting me. She was helping with projects like Templana, creating content, proof-reading my newsletters and answering emails.
I started to look for a replacement and found a few great candidates. After doing a test task with each, the conclusion was clear: they were all good in their own way! I just could not let them go. That’s when it hit me: what if other people also wanted to work with them? What if others, especially Asana users, would want to delegate tasks to a trained and trusted Asana assistant? The idea for “Heroes on demand” was born! A few weeks later, the team was made of 10 talented heroes!
The idea is simple: a client shares a need for assistance, we identify the best heroe(s), then set up a project in the client’s Asana organization so he/she can delegate tasks to the hero! I think this can be a game-changer for some businesses. Here is why I believe this project could be a success.
😁 Having a virtual assistant is awesome
Have you ever dream of not having to deal with that special task that is out of your comfort zone, takes too much time or you just suck at it? If you had a virtual assistant, you could delegate that task and have it done within a few hours! You can finally focus on what matters most for your work, and only do what you are good at/like to do.
😪 Finding a good assistant is hard
I know, my team is currently made of 10 talented assistants. To reach that point, I had to interact with dozens of candidates. There were the ones that could not write a proper email, the ones that never answered my first emails, the ones that just vanished overnight, the ones that could not follow a simple rule… Trust me, finding someone that is nice to work with + motivated + available + follows rules is super hard.
📈 Asana is growing crazy fast
They are growing at a crazy rate and taking the US and Europe by storm. If you never heard of Asana before, there is a good chance you will in the upcoming weeks. And the ecosystem around Asana is getting organized as well. Consultants are regrouping under the Asana Experts banner, the online community is super dynamic. Put all of this together and you end up with a software that will be used by millions of people for many years to come.
🛠 Asana is the perfect tool
When it comes to collaboration, Asana is a great tool. I have to admit I don’t know the other tools very well (Wrike, Basecamp, Trello). I have been using Asana for the past 5 years, and I now collaborate with about 30 people in my own Asana organization on a regular basis. I myself work with about 10 assistants, only using Asana. And it works seamlessly.
🏖 More and more talented people want freedom
I can see this everywhere. More and more people have enough of climbing the corporate ladder and want to work for themselves. I imagine a future where a lot of people will be freelancers. Developers, designers, project managers… and virtual assistants of all kinds will work together seamlessly with tools like Asana. It will be almost like working in the same company, except that teams will be built and destroyed on a monthly basis.
