Change to Online 2021 Annual Meeting

In consultation with the Society’s Executive Committee, following the recommendation of our Annual Program Committee, we have decided that the ASCL 2021 Annual Meeting, which was to have been held at the University of Wisconsin October 21–23, will now take place online, October 21–22, 2021. Please mark your agendas.

This decision was made in consideration of uncertainties caused by the Delta variant and related issues. The University of Wisconsin will still host the online conference. We are very thankful to the University of Wisconsin for their flexibility and efforts to work with us to adapt to this challenging and unstable environment.

Like last year, this change in format will necessitate several modifications to our usual program. In consultation with Francesca Bignami, chair of our Annual Program Committee, and the University of Wisconsin, we have tentatively decided to schedule the academic program on Thursday, October 21, starting at 9:45 am Central Time, and on Friday, Oct. 22 in the afternoon Central Time. There will be one plenary panel, a hot topic panel, and blocks for concurrent panels. On both days, the length and scheduling of the sessions are constrained by the need to accommodate participants and attendees in various time zones. For ASCL members, our annual business meeting will take place on Friday, October 22, at 10:00am-12:15pm Central Time.

The main theme of the Academic Program will continue to be “Internationalization of Comparative Law.”

We will post a link to register to the ASCL 2021 online Annual Meeting as well as other relevant information about it as soon as we have it.

(Like last year, the Younger Comparativist Committee will host its 2021 annual conference the day after the end of the ASCL 2021 Annual Meeting, on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021.)
