Finally … An Identity Framework For The Public Sector To Build On
When it comes to collecting taxes, our governments are often excellent at integrating the citizen. But, most other things … not so good. Why? Because there is almost no thought given to the integration of citizens. For example, my digital integration into the NHS barely exists. In fact, my dentist has much more digital integration than virtually all of the government and council services that I use. There is very little thought about how a citizen will interact with online services, and how our identity can be shared across the public sector.
Apart from collecting my taxes, I barely exist for most public services. And, the weakness is that they all build on sand, and will never integrate with the citizen until there is a common data architecture that can share what needs to be shared, and makes sure that other things are not shared. As part of this, the citizen must also have some control of their own identity. There are some great examples around, such as, in Scotland, for the Young Persons’ (Under 22s ) Free Bus travel, and which uses Yoti to prove identities.
