Welcome to stand up night at O’Halligan’s Pub. Sign up is at 7pm, and the show starts at 8pm. If this is your first time participating, please read over our code of conduct before requesting a slot. We take this code of conduct very seriously.

1. Everyone must be sad. We here at O’Halligan’s Pub do not believe in censorship. We welcome all performers and all content so long as every performer and all content is fundamentally depressing on an existential level.

2. We encourage stand up with a strong point of view. Whether you are a Louis CK-esque, weed-smoking, antisocial loser, or an antisocial Louis CK type who loves weed and is a loser, you’re welcome here. Just make sure that by then end of your set everyone feels sorry for you, and maybe a little frustrated.

3. This is a night to try new material. Please don’t feel like your set needs to be polished. This is an open mic after all. The whole point is to try new things and see what works. So when you’re here, make sure you bring your most depressing, ill-conceived ramblings about nothing, and see WHAT WORKS. So long as the audience is left questioning your mental health, you’ve done your job! This is your time to work through stuff!

4. Let us know if your material worked at another mic. If you find that your material isn’t getting much response, please let us know if it “fucking crushed” at another open mic. Nothing is sadder, and that’s the point.

5. Time limit is four minutes. For real, guys. We’re trying to get out of here by midnight so we can get at least 6 hours of sleep before calling out of our day jobs tomorrow because we’re so hungover.
