Apartment Acquired

Fantastic news folks: we got an apartment! More on this later.

The first part of our day yesterday was spent taking on a Taiwanese laundromat, which wasn’t too bad and left us reloaded with clean undies to take on the day. After that, we found an awesome xiaolongbao (the steamed dumplings you see above) place up the road from our Airbnb. Gotta say, it’s so nice not having to drive to Dallas, Texas to get good xiaolongbao!
Once our morning and lunch was complete, we headed out to look for a place to live. The good news was that we narrowed it down to two places, but the bad news was that they were just slightly outside of our suspected budget. However, the silver lining for the first place we looked at was that literally everything (building fee, cable, internet, and furnishings), minus utilities, was included in the price.

Long day and story short, the picture you see above is our new view of Taichung, Taiwan…and that’s just one window! Don’t worry, we will be making a video of a full apartment tour later.
Now for the specs: we landed a 2 bed, 1 big bath, 1 kitchenette, 1 dining room, 1 laundry room balcony on the 24th floor of a 24 story building. Annnd it’s right across the street from the building that Vicky’s sister-in-law works in! Only bad thing is that it takes 45 seconds to get to our place in the elevator, assuming no one stops it to get on.

Having become proud, new renters of a Taiwanese penthouse, we headed out for a victory dinner. Vicky found an outstanding Japanese restaurant, which only cost $11 for the both of us, and a most delicious shaved ice place as our culinary reward.
Now what we need to nail down next are scooters. Stay tuned. Also, we will be releasing videos about all this soon! Peace and love.
Bonus: Jigglypuff crane game.
