We are already into the new Lunar New Year. It is the year of the tiger! As we celebrate the new year, we look at the past year. Seeing so many things happening all around us. Like a tiger, we need to continue to be strong and look towards the future. Changing the world around us.

The start of this year has shown us all how unity and standing up together can make a statement. 3 Events have happened in the last 2 weeks that have made our community proud.

Asian Leaders Alliance’s ERG & Friends 2nd Annual Summit occurred over 2 separate days. We heard from Executive Sponsors on how to lead our leaders during the past year. And hear the many stories and learnings they had. On the second day, we heard from ERG leaders from different companies on how they created a place of belonging for their fellow employees and creating a place for all. You can watch and re-watch them here:

We have announced our partnership with Everyspace. Together we have released Everyspace for our Asian Leaders Alliance community. We here at ALA have always believed that it was important for our communities to be connected. We wanted a space for us all to learn, talk, share, and collaborate with each other. 2 years ago, we got a Slack workspace so that we all could connect in real-time. And create a family for us all to be a part of. A family of individuals, leaders, ERG leaders and members, nonprofits leaders, and employees. A place for our whole collective community to be there for one another. And we have grown and enjoyed our time together. But we also noticed that we needed more.

With Everyspace, we now have a platform for us all to share events and share resources and knowledge with each other. We also have a way for nonprofits to be represented and for us to actively connect and support them and each other. Our vision is to have Everyspace + Slack be where all of our API communities can connect and be connected to the larger API community and groups. It will allow us all to be able to self-service and be more active and connected.

What is better than having a rally? Having 6 rallies coordinated across the USA. This last Sunday, January 30, 2022; in 6 cities (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta, New York, and Philadephia), dozens of organizations hosted the Asian Justice rally. That day was the anniversary of the death of 84-year old Thai grandfather Vicha Ratanapakdee; commemorating him and the many victims of Asian hate. We rallied so that his death was in vain, but rather serves as our inspiration to continue the fight for Asian justice. This feat was something that our community has not done/seen for decades. Relive those moments by watching the live streams. And watch the national stream hosted by the Asian Leaders Alliance. You can find all of the live streams at www.asianjusticerally.org and the national stream here.

Our friends at Asians Are Strong put up a banner a few weeks ago. In less than 3 days, their banner got vandalized. You can read more here: https://asamnews.com/2022/01/05/asians-are-strong-banner-vandalized-in-san-francisco/

They stood up against it and decided to come back bigger and better! And on Feb 1st, 2022; they put up a billboard. Standing up and making a statement! We are proud of the work and passion they have. And celebrate their wins! Because theirs and any organization or group that does things for the greater API community with genuine passion and intent will continue to uplift our community!

Let’s continue this momentum! Work together across our ERGs, our companies, our communities, our nonprofits to continue to make a collective impact!
