Maybe I made a mistake yesterday, but yesterday’s me is still me. Today, I am who I am with all my faults and my mistakes. Tomorrow, I might be a tiny bit wiser, and that’ll be me too. These faults and mistakes are what I am, making up the brightest stars in the constellation of my life. I have come to love myself for who I am, for who I was, and for who I hope to become — Kim Nam-joon

There is no better way to describe self-love other than how Kim Nam-joon described it in his United Nations speech. What Nam-joon said, stayed with me and will be in my mind forever — I love myself for who I am, for who I was and for who I hope to become and I hope it stays with you too…..

Formed in 2010, BTS is a South Korean boy band. Though there are other popular K-pop bands, the global fame & love BTS achieved surpassed the definition of ‘normal’. And there are reasons why BTS was able to reach the heights where they are today.

1) The realness

Every member of the group is unique and their perfection lies in their imperfections. They are not afraid of showing their clumsy and goofy personalities to the world. There are no filters in the way they express themselves, no one is faking. It’s all real - the emotions, the connections, the awkwardness, the tears, the fights, the struggles and the success.

BTS’s realness is what I admire the most. Familiarity is what draws the fans towards them. People get that feeling that they are just like us. Whether it’s Jungkook doing his laundry and folding his Calvin Klein under wears on a live or Suga getting emotional thinking that the maknae line is all grown up now. It gives the feel of belongingness, unlike other stars who live an ultra lavish perfect lifestyle and the difference between them and us seems infinite which makes it impossible for us to relate to them.

In today’s world of happy whatsapp display pictures and endless adventure stories on Instagram, where everything in this world seems hunky dory, BTS brings much needed normalcy to the vision.

2) Their journey

It hasn’t been an easy ride. BTS didn’t become the superstars they are today, overnight. They had their own journey and fare share of struggles like any other individual. From them handing out flyers inviting random passerby’s to come to their free concert to selling out stadiums, BTS certainly has come a long way.

Their magical journey reinforces the fact that hard work certainly pays off, one just needs to stay focused and have perseverance. It makes me believe that if I invest time in my writing career and keep perseverance than maybe and I am saying maybe one day, even I can become an acclaimed author :)

3) The Team work

If you want to walk fast, walk alone. But if you want to walk far, walk together — Ratan Tata

These boys have walked together and that’s what has made all the difference. They complement each other so well, respect and adoration towards each other is visible in the their actions and their eyes. Their well coordinated dance moves and synchronized energies even makes the Universe to groove with them in synergy.

4) Emotions

BTS Fans are emotionally attached to the members. The way their lives have unfolded narrates a story, a miraculous story of a nobody climbing the stairs of success to stardom. ARMYs (fans) too have lived the BTS story with them. Be it the true and deep friendships, the celebrations after every success, the reflections of the past while walking down the memory lane, the youthfulness, the pride of getting an opportunity to speak at United Nations, the sadness of members leaving temporarily to join military services, from their first performance together to their first singles, in their laughter's and their tears. Emotions is what holds the group and the fans together and strong.

BTS is not just any other band, it’s an emotion which ARMYs (fans) live through daily. It gives it’s fans a reason to dream, to believe in themselves, to still have faith in true friendships, it teaches self-love, respect and most importantly to live.
