One of the things that I hate about travelling and living in western countries is the use of toilet paper. If you are an Asian expat, you know where I am coming from.

Here are the two best alternatives that I found which make living and travelling in the UK tolerable for me.

Bidet connected to the bathroom sink

Almost all the UK houses don’t come with Bathrooms with a built-in bidet for the commode as in Asian houses. However, we were able to get the same result by using a diverter for the bathroom sink faucet and connect it with a handheld bidet. You can easily buy these from Amazon (links in the references). The result will look like this and this will need no plumbing work.

However, this works only if your sink and commode are near each other. We made this a strict requirement when we were house hunting.

Portable Bidets

If you are travelling or staying overnight in a hotel, portable bidets come to the rescue. These are small bottles with a nozzle head.
