I once wrote a post about how to respond to a Medium story with one word:

Readers told me that they found it useful. So? I’m back with a post about how — and why — to respond to a Medium story with a single sentence.

Not because I’m encouraging folks to start with a single word, then expand to a single sentence and finally work their way up to a tsunami of commentary.

I recommend responding with a single sentence because it’s something I’ve been doing since I arrived on the platform almost 6 years ago and it works for me.

So it might work for you.

On Medium, it isn’t enough just to read a story. You need to engage with it! The writer — and the almighty Medium algorithm — should know you’ve been there. You clap 50 times. You highlight anything that moves or amuses you. And then? You post a comment.
