Workers Compensation in Arizona Made Easy

Are you required to carry workers compensation insurance in Arizona?

Yes, you are required to carry work comp in Arizona, even if you have just one employee.

So congratulations!
You’ve started your new business, and it’s doing so well that you have hired your first employee. You’ll still be working those long hours, but not alone anymore. It feels good, I know. I remember hiring my first employee, and how good I felt. My employees have helped make me successful, and I don’t know where I’d be without them.

So now it’s time to dot the i’s and cross the t’s and cover your employee properly. And of course it’s the law in Arizona, so that helps motivate you to get it done right away.

Who sells Workers Compensation in Arizona?

Work Comp in Arizona is sold by insurance agents who represent many different companies, including the company I’m proud to represent, Farmers Insurance. Agents can also assist you with what used to be called the “state pool” (SCF Arizona). It was renamed in 2013 to CopperPoint Mutual Insurance Company. Now it operates as a non-profit mutual insurer, and currently covers over 60% of all workers comp in Arizona. CopperPoint competes just like any other insurance company for your business.

What does this mean for you?
It means that I can help you get the very best Workers Compensation insurance in Chandler and the Phoenix area no matter what your needs are.

How much does Workers Compensation cost?

I don’t want to sound like a politician, but “that depends.” There are 3 major factors that affect your premium:

  1. Total payroll hours
  2. Employee classification
  3. Company claims experience

Employee classification and claims experience (referred to as experience modification factor, or an “e-mod”) is determined by a national non-profit organization called National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI). Not all states abide by the rating factors set by this council, but Arizona does. So each company, from the smallest to the largest, will have a unique rate because your company story is unique.

What does this mean for you?
It means that Workers Compensation is complex and regulated. It also means that you don’t have to navigate the rules and rates alone. I can help. I have employees and I am required to carry work comp too. So I know how it feels to need the best rate possible.

I will work with you and get to know your company’s story. Your company deserves to grow. And you deserve an experienced agent to come alongside you and do the heavy lifting of getting the best workers compensation rate possible. I’ll do that for you.
