Hello Loves! Today I’m taking things up a notch from my previous post; Top ten products to have in your natural hair arsenal by listing out top ten must have natural hair tools and also explaining why each one of them is super important and worthy of being on this pristine list.

That said, let’s get into it.

10 Must-HaveTools in your Natural Haircare Arsenal

1. Spray bottle.

This is undoubtedly very important as it makes hydrating and moisturizing your hair a lot easier. Endeavor to have at least one in your arsenal for either just water, water and oils, water and glycerin, infused hydrosols, or whichever mixture you feel your hair needs at the moment. Just get a spray bottle because, you can never go wrong with it and it would always come in handy.

2. Applicator bottle.

This tool comes in two variants; single nozzled and multiple nozzled and they are both useful for variety of things such as; applying oils on your scalp for massages because of the nozzle attached, for easy application of your shampoo to your scalp, also for hot oil treatments to apply heated oils to your strands and a host of other things.

You need it, so get it and put it in your tools arsenal.

3. Rat tailed comb.

This is a must have for every naturalista. For creating those neat parts you admire on your fellow naturalista. Whether you plan to twist or crotchet your hair or just style it up, partition combs always come in handy. So make sure you have one and ensure you get an anti-static one as well to remove static electricity from your hair.

4. Wide toothed comb.

Still on the comb wave, for African natural hair, if you must use a comb on your hair, wide-toothed combs are your best best because the bristles are widely set and will help comb and Detangling your hair without necessarily snagging and pulling on your stands. Also just like with the rat tailed comb, endeavor to shop carbon anti-static wide toothed combs. You’re welcome!

5. Plastic Alligator Clips

These are really needed because they help you easily section your hair into workable parts when you want to moisturize, wash and deep condition.

It helps you work easily on your hair especially if you have medium to high density hair, so you can get to work your products into every nook and cranny of your pretty head. They’re typically sold in a pack of five, so it’s advisable to have at least one pack in your arsenal.

6. Ouch-less bands.

These are much loved by a majority of Naturalistas as they’re typically joy givers and here’s why. It’s simply because they’re extremely gentle on hair and don’t have a metal clasp so they won’t snag on your strands and cause breakage or split ends. Also, unlike rubber bands and regular hair bands, they’re thicker so they don’t put too much tension or pressure on your strands so there’s no fear of your strands thinning out in the middle.

So, stock up on ouch-less bands and make the switch from rubber bands and regular hair bands.

7. Bobby pins.

These pins are something you just can’t do without when it comes to styling your Natural hair as they are used to hold hair in place to achieve a sleeked down look also just for the general aesthetic.

However, there’s a caveat. Bobby pins tend to ‘disappear’ after a while so be ready to stock up on quite a number of them and finally when using, remember the wavy part of your Bobby pin goes under and the smooth part stays up. Enjoy Bobbing.

8. Electric Heat Cap/ Steamer.

This tool is extremely important for Naturalistas because it plays a crucial role in deep conditioning your hair as it is a healthy source of heat which allows your product to actively penetrate the hairs shaft and release its awesome nutrients. It is especially needed by Naturalistas with Low Porosity hair.

9. Scalp Massager.

This tool must be in your hair arsenal because it plays the major role of helping to stimulate blood flow in your scalp thereby stimulating growth and ensuring the over all health of your hair. It is also useful when washing your hair to massage your scalp while cleansing at the same time. So whether battery operated or manual, endeavor to have one in your arsenal.

10. Micro-fiber Towel.

Your tools arsenal is incomplete without this as micro-fiber towels are super important not just for improved and effective cleaning and drying compared to regular towels, it’s also because they; impose less friction on your hair, they don’t snag o your strands so no breakage and they also help your hair soak in the moisture instead of drying it off.

Make the switch to micro-fiber today and your hair will thank you.

And it’s a wrap! Do let me know which tool(s) you’ll be sure to incorporate into your hair arsenal after reading.
